Mid-size companies place business applications at top of their investment priorities

According to a survey conducted in Italy by Oracle and Insintesi and covered in an article from Il Sole 24 Ore of 29 January, one in two Italian companies will replace their process applications within the next two years. Business applications along with the upgrade of infrastructure, are considered to be the key combination in which to invest in 2009 to significantly improve the efficiency of operations and processes. 61% of the managers interviewed said that their main reasons for investing in business software will be to improve business management and the analysis of information. This is closely followed by reducing costs and improving customer service.

In relation to this news from Italy, Metastorm has also seen strong demand in recent months from Italian businesses looking to improve processes and achieve operational efficiency. Robin Martin, Metastorm’s executive vice president of International Operations, told us that prospective customers in Italy are looking for innovative ways to get a handle on their key resources – people, products, processes, systems and technology – and get a better understanding of the relationships between these resources, so that they can plan accurately and achieve greater business agility. In response to this interest from Italian companies such as Banca Popolare di Sondrio, Metastorm recently launched its enterprise architecture and business process analysis software suite, Metastorm ProVision, in the Italian language.
