How BPM can help HR gain a more strategic role

In today’s economically challenged environment HR is increasingly becoming a strategic business function. As and the recession have brought new challenges to HR departments with resources stretched to the limit but the pressure to perform and drive profitability remaining the same across the business.

BPM can help firms improve personnel management as one of Metastorm’s clients shows here. By adopting BPM technology, the firm is now able to maintain a central personnel database which is updated in real time and includes all employees’ personal data which in turn speeds up all the processes connected to this.

BPM also helps HR departments comply with corporate or industry standards. The diary and food producer has been able to meet the requirement of Sarbanes –Oxley while a global engineering company used the technology to support its global CEO-mandated “Operational Excellence” initiative.

As for every other business division, it is important to make the best of the HR resources you already have and consider the additional benefits that might be achieved from implementing a BPM system that allows HR to move from a cost to a profit center.
