German midsize organizations put BPM top of their agendas

Posted by: Process Matters Blogger on: March 5, 2009

According to an article recently published in COMPUTERWOCHE, a leading German IT publication, effective business process management is vital in order to remain effective within an organisation. The article comments that only with a transparent view of an organization’s business processes is it possible to eliminate wrong decision-making as well as spot the potential to optimize operations at a very early stage.

The article referred back to a study amongst mid-size pharmaceutical, chemical and process industry firms conducted in Germany between August and September 2008 which showed that BPM was high on the agenda of CIOs. Users of business process management systems were asked how strongly they actually engaged with their systems on a scale of 1 (very strongly) to 5 (not at the moment) and just over half of the respondents answered they were strongly or fairly strongly engaged with the systems.

However, something midsize companies should bear in mind is that often a link between process strategy and IT strategy is missing in their organization. Here’s where BPM comes in to make the connection between the two. In addition, Metastorm Enterprise, an integrated software suite that includes Enterprise Architecture, Business Process Analysis and Business Process Management, is also there to help align strategy with execution. It helps companies to:

Comprehensively See and, therefore, truly understand the enterprise, including its goals, available resources and key relationships;

Effectively Think through and analyse possible organizational changes and improvements;

Rapidly and cost effectively Do, or execute on, what it takes to realise your desired changes and goals.
