We know the IT industry is changing and in many cases, it is for the better. Tech Target’s SearchSOA.com published some interesting results from a recent survey the publication conducted that asked software developers, architects, C-level executives, managers and consultants the types of infrastructure and service-based applications their organizations planned for their SOA.
While respondents revealed that they are looking towards infrastructure software such as grid and cloud computing, they also noted a specific interest in BPM when it comes to services-based applications that businesses are targeting. Specific findings include:
• 29.7% of respondents cited BPM as one of the critical areas for their organization’s technology efforts
• 35.8% respondents counted BPM software among the types of infrastructure software currently used
• 38% planning are planning to use BPM in the future
Massimo Pezzino, VP and analyst with Gartner notes, “with a lot of SOA projects focused on cost containment, BPM is an immediate opportunity for customers to get benefits.”
This study certainly sheds further light on the technology investments many executives have made or plan to make in the coming years.
